I installed Windows XP on the problem laptop two weeks ago and the user has reported that she has had no problems charging the battery or with it showing acppi it is not charging. I'm now wondering if it would have fixed the laptop.
If you pop out the battery then pop it back in it will immediately start charging. I took his word that it did not fix the issue, but it is quite possible that he didn't follow the directions carefully.
