I tried to find the threads where we discussed this but it was a number of years ago. And you never know if you want to plugin another esata device in the future. I get an Event ID 9. StableBit DrivePool doesn't need letters at all. I removed the drive, put a new one in, resilvered I resilver like a BOSS now I have had so much practice and it was good to go.

I have 30 drives in my system, though only 26 are in the pool. There were no such issues with USB 3. I ran wdidle3 to stop fard heads from parking but a couple of the drives already had K plus load cycles before I figured that out. And you never know if you want to plugin another esata device in the future.

The latter case needs a port multiplier aware SATA host controller on the PC side if more than one drive bay is being used.
